Ukrainian startup Esper Bionics, developing robotic arm, raises investment from SMRK

Ukrainian engineering startup Esper Bionics received investment from Ukrainian venture capital fund SMRK. The news was reported to AIN.UA by representatives of the startup. The amount of funds raised is not disclosed.

About Esper Bionics

Esper Bionics is a hardware startup that develops IoT devices in the prosthetic field. The team is now developing the myoelectric wrist prosthesis, Esper Hand.

According to Esper Bionics, the startup is now working on fitting the upgraded prosthesis for beta testing. MVP was developed and installed in April 2020.

Where will the investment go?

According to the company, the raised investment will be spent on the improvement of the market product, adjustment of capacities for serial production, and team expansion. That is the first venture financing raised by the company.

“Sensor implants will have the greatest impact on humanity in 15 years. Our capabilities, digital world management, body parameters, longevity, and richness of life will all improve significantly. The field of prosthetics will be the birthplace of such technologies. And hardware-software architecture we are creating is the basis,” commented Dmytro Gazda, CEO of Esper Bionics.

Company Plans

By the end of 2021, the startup team plans to fit 20 prostheses as part of the beta testing. The prosthesis fitting is also planned in the U.S. Currently, the company is negotiating with several prosthetic clinics. It is also planned to look for partners to enter Western markets (USA, Canada). Next six months, the prosthesis fitting will take place in Ukraine.
