Ukraine offers the world’s cheapest fixed-line broadband

Cable.co.uk research shows that Ukraine has the world’s cheapest broadband Internet. The average cost of a package is $6.41 per month.

The country with the most expensive broadband Internet is the East African country of Eritrea – the average cost of services in this country is $2,666 per month.

To conduct the research, Cable.co.uk collected and analyzed 3,288 fixed-line broadband deals in 211 countries for the period from October 29, 2020, to December 9, 2020.

Countries with the cheapest Internet

1. Ukraine, where an average package price dropped by $0.23 for the year to $6.41, taking the country from the second position to the first one
2. Syria – an average package costs $6.69 per month
3. Russia – an average monthly cost is $7.50
4. Bhutan – the country with the cheapest broadband Internet in Asia, with an average package price of $8.71 per month
5. Sri Lanka – an average package cost here is $9.58

However, if you do not consider the average cost but focus on the cheapest available package in the world, the list will be different:

1. Kyrgyzstan – $1.04
2. Sri Lanka – $1.19
3. Syria – $2.13
4. Russia – $2.73
5. Moldova, $2.82

Countries with the most expensive Internet

4 out of 5 countries with the highest average price in the world are in Africa. The 5th position is taken by the Special Administrative Region of the People’s Republic of China:

1. Eritrea – with an average package price of $2,666.24 per month
2. Mauritania – $712.46
3. Comoros – $414.01
4. Burundi – $370
5. Macau (Special Administrative Region of China) – $307

If to take not the average price but the highest cost for 1 megabit per month, the top 5 looks as follows:

1. Eritrea – $15,051
2. Laos – $4,213
