Ukrainian regulator imposes a $36,000 fine on Google due to the individual entrepreneur’s claim

The Antimonopoly Committee (AMCU) has imposed a fine on Google LLC (the Ukrainian representative office of Google) for failure to provide information during the investigation. The fine amounted to ₴1 million (which is about $36,000).

As the AMCU noted, the high amount of the fine was determined by the aggravating circumstances, namely the fact that Google failed to provide the required information for more than a year.

“The defendant’s failure to provide information in the terms determined by the Committee made it impossible for the Committee to fulfill its tasks, in particular, timely, complete and comprehensive consideration of the claim of violation of the legislation on economic competition protection,” reads the statement of the AMCU.

The information that Google had to provide was necessary for the AMCU to investigate the blocking of an individual entrepreneur’s account in the application Google My Business.

AIN.UA requested a comment from representatives of Google LLC, but did not receive a response at the time of publication.
